Nice book describing absentee ownership of a home in Burgundy. The author was very fortunate to have friendly, helpful neighbors. The descriptions of the restaurants were nice but I could have used more help with some of the dishes he had. Similarly with the wineries he visited. But very enjoyable.

I have read many book on fixing up old houses in France and the problems. And never could read about the region the house was located. This book spent little time on the fix up and more time traveling and giving information about Burgundy. A good read.

Interesting observations and suggestions for things to do around Dijon, given the time and season. It is written in a informal and conversational manner, making it an easy, pleasurable read. Focuses mainly on living in a French country environment without the benefit of fluent french.

Makes me want to catch the next flight to France! Alan writes a captivating account of the delightful people he meets in his French village. Great tips on restaurants and wine. Highly recommend this humorous and well-written book.

Very well written book, fast paced, confirms our experiences with the French people even when you speak poor French. Enjoyable.
